The Playa Bastian Zone D Committee Members elected 16th March 2019. From left to right,
Paul Cowling, Ernie Jeffrey (Vice-President), Brian Purdue (President), Fiona Hickman and Stephen Fahy.
Jean and I have been owners on Playa Bastian since 1982 and have owned various properties here since then. Having run my own building business for some 40 years.
I am retired and living in Norfolk. Whilst we have children and numerous grandchildren we now spend the winter months and more in Lanzarote. My hobbies include golf, gardening and country music.
More recently I have taken on the challenges of being President of Zone D and, with the support of the Board and good will of the owners, we will continue to work hard to achieve the best for the Community.
We have been visiting Costa Teguise for over 20 years, initially staying in the HPB properties in Playa Bastian.
During that time we have developed a strong affection for the people and culture of Lanzarote.
After completing a Law degree my career was spent in the manufacturing industry as a Sales and Marketing Director for several major European packaging companies and latterly as the UK General Manager for a German group. This enabled me to develop additional skills in areas such as Finance, NPD and Logistics.
Both of us enjoy travel, reading, food and wine whilst I also have a great love of antiques and interior design. Over time we have extended our holidays in the island and were delighted when the opportunity arose nearly 3 years ago to purchase a villa in Playa Bastian where we now spend 6 months of the year.
I look forward to working with the rest of the team, helping to build on a great base to overcome future challenges and develop a secure long term future for the site.
I am 43 years old and I have been a co-owner of 47 Playa Bastian for 2 years.
I am an independent Business Analyst in the Banking and Wealth Management industry in the UK. I have been running my own business for approximately 7 years and have worked for a few large financial institutions in the South West.
My role involves collating business requirements for IT systems, processes and products, user acceptance testing and supporting implementations. During my career I have also worked in Project Management and completed my PRINCE2
Practitioner training and certification.
My hobbies include spinning, running, gym, skiing and I am a keen traveller and holiday in my villa in Lanzarote with my friends and family, on a regular basis throughout the year.
I am very interested in the role on the Board, to provide support and improve the community in Playa Bastian.
Linda and I have been coming to Lanzarote for about four years but immediately fell in love with it.
We bought No.10 about 2 1/2 years ago and plan (at some point in the near future) to spend extended periods here as we slip into retirement from the corporate world.
I’ve worked in the electricity generation business for almost 35 years developing, building and operating Coal, gas and nuclear power stations. I currently run an Offshore wind business with sites across Europe.
My first impressions of being on the board of our community… always lots to do, it’s a great team and everything seems to be well under control, some things are very complex. I look forward to doing my very best for all the owners in serving on the board and helping, wherever possible, our community to flourish.
Yolanda joined the team during early 2009 as our Bookkeeper.
Yolanda is a highly qualified professional and takes care of the day to day transactions of Zone D.
Yoli, as she is known can be found in the office above reception and will happily receive community fees and water payments from owners and will help those wanting to pay by the much preferred direct debit.
Luis Silva, our Receptionist is always on hand to help in any way he can. Be it sorting our mail, assisting with phone calls, organising deliveries or offering a helping hand to Community members, Luis always has a smile and a cheery Hola!"
Miguel is a very familiar face to many Zone D community members. Having worked with us for a considerable number of years, his hard work and expertise in keeping our garden area's tidy, well stocked and in good order is very much appreciated. Miguel and his team also carry out most of the maintenance work around the site.
Javier, works with Miguel in maintaining our pool's and garden area's. Javier is another long serving member of the Zone D Team and again eager to help or advise us.
Todao is the youngest member of the Team He has a background in the Building trade as a bricklayer, which made him the ideal candidate for the team, as when not gardening carries out all of the maintenance with Miguel including all replacement plumbing and pipework.
